  • Can I paint my garage door?

Yes, all of our galvanised steel doors can be painted. Firstly, apply a mordant solution or a primer on your garage door. Secondly, apply an undercoat. Finally, paint your garage door. Before you decide to paint your door, however, the garage door must be at least 4 months old.

  • How do I measure for my garage door?

Width: Measure the distance between the inside point at the jamb of one side of the opening to the other. Take this measurement at several places along the jamb to ensure a square opening.

Height: Measure the distance from the floor to the underside of the lintel at several places to ensure a correct reading.

  • What happens if I do not have any or enough headroom?

This depends on the type of garage door you decide to purchase. Some garage doors such as hinged doors and roller shutters that are fixed on the outside do not require any headroom. Low headroom kits exist for overhead sectional doors. Other garage doors may require you to lose some inches from the garage door opening.

  • What are backroom and headroom?

The backroom is the distance from the garage door opening to the back wall of the garage. Headroom can be taken as the height of the lintel. It is the distance between the top of the door opening and the ceiling or any obstruction such as pipes, or ductwork.

  • What is side room?

The side room is the measurement from each side of the door opening, outward to the nearest wall or obstruction within the garage. (From door jamb to the wall).
